Almaviva BLU Race
Almaviva BLU Race
Prima edizione dell’Almaviva BLU RACE a Roma, presso il Circolo Canottieri Aniene.
The first edition of the Almaviva BLU Race took place in Rome, on the Tiber, on Sunday 22 September, at the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, in conclusion of the WE CAN BLU IT! 2024 programme dedicated to World Rivers Day.
Almaviva BLU RACE
Promoted by piùblu and Almaviva, with the endorsement of the Italian Rowing Federation — Canottaggio Sociale and the Lazio Regional Rowing Committee, and with the collaboration of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, the race brought together 7 clubs, 12 mixed crews, 98 participants and 3 generations of rowers.
The Almaviva BLU Race, born also thanks to the commitment of Domitilla Baffigo, vice-president of piùblu, was the first Match Race competition in which women and men of different ages rowed together in the same boats — eight-oared gigs — to bring a message of environmental awareness onto the water.
Participating were three crews from the Circolo degli Esteri, one crew from the Circolo Canottieri Roma, two crews from the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, two crews from the Circolo Ondina, one crew from the W.O.W. Team, two crews from the Circolo Tre Ponti and one crew from the Circolo Navalia.
First place was taken by the crews of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene; second and third place went to the two crews of the Circolo Ondina.
The prize-giving was attended by Giacomo Perini, Paralympic athlete and ambassador of piùblu, together with Alberto Tripi, president of Almaviva, main sponsor of WE CAN BLU IT! 2024.
The day concluded with a gathering on the lawn of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, where piùblu, Almaviva and the crews came together at the end of the race, giving each other a date for the new edition of the Almaviva BLU Race.
