A common mission: to raise communities’ awareness of caring for our waters.
Over 40 volunteers took part in the WE CAN BLU IT! clean-up action promoted by piùblu in Bari on the occasion of World Rivers Day 2024.
The organisational heart of the activity was the Circolo Canottieri Barion, where athletes from its sports sections, together with vice-president Carlo Quaranta, gathered to take part in the collection of waste dispersed at sea and along the coast. Using Coastal Rowing boats, canoes, SUP and a motorboat, they recovered plastic drums and crates, tyres, polystyrene boards and four bags of plastic bottles — a total of over 3 m³ of waste. Con barche da Coastal Rowing, canoe, SUP e un motoscafo hanno recuperato bidoni e cassette in plastica, pneumatici, tavole di polistirolo e quattro sacchi di bottigliette di plastica per un totale di oltre 3 m³ di rifiuti.
Just as water is a source of life, blood is life itself. In Bari too, the environmental clean-up action was an opportunity for piùblu to promote a conscious, free and civic gesture — blood and plasma donation — by virtue of a partnership formed with FIDAS Nazionale and Giovani FIDAS. Representing the federation was Rosita Orlandi, President of FIDAS Pugliese Donatori Sangue — Bari Branch, and Vice-President of FIDAS Nazionale.
We are deeply grateful to all the volunteers involved.
