A common mission: to raise communities’ awareness of caring for our waters.
Over 80 volunteers took part in the WE CAN BLU IT! clean-up action promoted by piùblu in Messina on the occasion of World Rivers Day 2024. The athletes of Rowing Club Peloro, coordinated by World rowing champion Giovanni Ficarra, joined enthusiastically and with team spirit to clear the Capo Peloro Oriental Nature Reserve of abandoned waste. Sia a piedi che a bordo di SUO, canoe e piccole imbarcazioni a remi hanno raccolto in meno di quattro ore cassette e bidoni di plastica e circa 10 sacchi di bottiglie di plastica e microplastiche, per un totale di circa 4 m³ di rifiuti.
L’iniziativa è stata un’importante occasione per sensibilizzare l’intera comunità messinese sull’importanza di rispettare l’ambiente, un patrimonio prezioso che tutti devono contribuire a proteggere per un futuro piùblu per tutti.
