Tackling environmental challenges requires not just awareness, but also the adoption of effective, sustainable practices. Best practices are those examples of excellence that we can embrace and spread to improve our planet’s health. From effective recycling to reducing consumption, every small action can make a big difference when adopted by many.

In this first post dedicated to best practices, we want to highlight a fundamental issue: sustainable waste management. Reducing waste and disposing of it correctly are essential steps towards a sustainable future. One concrete example is the Zero Waste system, which promotes upstream waste reduction by encouraging the use of reusable products and minimal packaging.

Many cities worldwide have already adopted Zero Waste strategies, achieving remarkable results in reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill. San Francisco, for example, is one of the first cities in the world to have implemented a Zero Waste policy, with the goal of sending no waste to landfill by 2020. This practice not only reduces environmental impact but educates citizens to be more mindful of their daily consumption.
