Our Mission
Founded in 2022, piùblu ets is a non-profit organization committed to protecting marine, lake, and river ecosystems.
Through online initiatives, educational programmes and collective actions, it promotes a more conscious environmental culture and invites citizens, schools, institutions and businesses to take part in protecting seas, rivers and lakes. The goal is to turn environmental awareness into participation, so that everyone can contribute to protecting the environment.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS IN NUMBERS
8 million tonnes of plastic
Every year, over 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in the oceans, polluting over 88% of the ocean surface. This phenomenon is devastating marine ecosystems and upsetting the delicate balance between environment, flora and fauna.
10 grams of plastic
The effects are dramatic: microplastics are able to infiltrate water and soil, even contaminating the fish that end up on our tables. Recent studies have shown that we ingest up to 10 grams of plastic every week, the equivalent of two credit cards!
1 million plastic bottles
Every minute, around 1 million plastic bottles and just as many bags are purchased worldwide. Of all the plastic ever produced, over 70% becomes waste, and only a small fraction is correctly recycled.
The situation is critical and the time for action is running out.
Solutions: what we can do
The scale of the problem should only strengthen our resolve to act. Reducing single-use plastic, choosing reusable alternatives, sorting waste correctly and taking part in collective actions are simple choices but important ones. Repeated every day, they can help protect seas, rivers and lakes.
1.Raise awareness and educate
Spreading ever-greater awareness of the impact of plastic on our health and on the environment is essential. Promoting awareness campaigns in schools, communities and across media can make a real difference to collective behaviour.
2.Reduce, reuse, recycle
Reducing single-use plastic consumption, choosing reusable alternatives and sorting waste correctly are simple but decisive actions. Water bottles, fabric bags and food containers can replace many disposable items; knowing the recycling rules in your area helps avoid mistakes, making every gesture more effective.
3.Support innovation and research
Supporting research means promoting the development of biodegradable materials, alternatives to conventional plastic and more effective systems for collecting marine waste Floating barriers and microplastic filtration tools are examples of solutions that can complement daily and collective action.
Remember: every action counts. Reduce, reuse and recycle today for a bluer tomorrow.
Good intentions don’t clean the sea. Action does.
