Basiliotti Bags Company and piùblu

piùblu has been collaborating with Basiliotti Bags Company since the first edition of World Rivers Day. It’s a company that places the relationship between production, environment and society at the heart of its business philosophy.
The company interprets sustainability as an integral part of the production process, with attention to environmental, social and design considerations. Its commitment is inspired by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations, as a reference for contributing to a more equitable, responsible and sustainable future.

Basiliotti’s philosophy

Basiliotti’s production philosophy is built on two principles: reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials, water and energy, and championing the quality of products made with recycled materials. Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the company’s vision and contributes to the creation of long-term value. In line with the concept of systemic design, Basiliotti works to transform waste into resources, integrating innovation, sustainability and attention to the life cycle of materials. A responsible range

Basiliotti’s product range includes paper, fabric and bioplastics — each chosen with sustainability at its core. Its papers are recycled and recyclable, FSC-certified and carbon-neutral through the neutralisation of residual CO₂. Since 2009, the company’s energy production has reached 2,082,000 kW, avoiding the emission of 10,600 tonnes of CO₂ in the process.

The fabric range draws on ecological, organic, natural and recycled fibres — from organic and regenerated cotton to innovative materials such as bamboo fibre.
On the bioplastics front, Basiliotti produces compostable and biodegradable materials derived from renewable sources such as sugar cane. It also works with production by-products to offer pre-consumer and post-consumer plastics with properties comparable to virgin material, reducing the need for new resource extraction at every stage.

Basiliotti and piùblu

For the river, lake and sea clean-up actions, piùblu has chosen to use Basiliotti white bags, made from 100% recycled plastic and distributed to the volunteers engaged in waste collection.

Each bag is made from fewer than three recycled PET bottles. Once the collection activity is complete, the Basiliotti bags can continue to be used in daily life: they are durable, washable and designed with a practical, ergonomic design.
The collaboration between Basiliotti and piùblu shows how an object intended for operational use can become part of a more conscious supply chain, in which sustainability of materials, reuse and environmental responsibility are integrated in a concrete way.
