The non-polluting packaging bioplastic made from fish waste is the brainchild of the Sardinian start-up Relicta, founded by five young people to help solve the pollution caused by plastic.

It is a water-soluble bioplastic material, conceived by researcher Davide Sanna of the Relicta team, obtained from fish processing waste and suitable for packaging solutions.
Using a specific mixture of fish skin, it is possible to obtain a transparent, odourless plastic film. The plastic, by virtue of its composition, is compostable, biodegradable and soluble in water. Water solubility is the product’s most important characteristic — states Relicta — and opens up new disposal possibilities for this material.
